Why Drums4Health is Good for Gyms

A Class That Works for Every Member on Your Timetable

Most group fitness classes serve one fitness level. Drums4Health serves them all, in the same session.

Truly inclusive, from seated to full-on cardio. The format scales all the way from a low-impact, seated drumming session up through standing, dancing and jumping, high-intensity cardio drumming, so members with very different fitness levels, ages, or mobility can take part side by side. That’s a class you can genuinely put in front of your whole membership base, not just your regulars.

Fun first, fitness second. Members show up for classes they love. The rhythm, the music and the energy in the room make Drums4Health feel like a release, not a chore, which is exactly what drives repeat attendance and retention.

A full-body, brain-boosting workout. Drumming engages movement, hearing, focus, emotional regulation and timing all at once, supporting mental sharpness, stress reduction and mood, giving your members physical and mental wellbeing in a single, joyful session.

A genuine point of difference. In a timetable full of near-identical HIIT, spin and circuits classes, Drums4Health gives you something members will talk about, share, and bring friends to.

Drums4Health is the award-winning drumming fitness class that turns a workout into a vibe, combining movement, music and rhythm for a session members genuinely can’t wait to come back to. Founded by Tamsin Ward, Drums4Health has built a loyal, growing following across Devon, with participants calling it the most fun they’ve ever had exercising. We’re now working with commercial gyms to bring that energy to a wider audience. Here’s everything you need to know.

The Drums4Health Drums

Purpose-Built Equipment, Designed for Gyms

Drums4Health uses drums specially designed for the format, these are not off-the-shelf percussion drums, they’ve been designed for noise, sustainability, movement and stability.

The Opportunity

Be Among the First Gyms in the Country

Drums4Health is at an early stage of rolling out to commercial gyms, which means partner gyms now have the chance to be first to market with something new. Following our taster sessions at a large, nationwide gym, we’re actively looking for gyms who want to:

  • Offer members a class format their competitors don’t have
  • Build a reputation as an innovative, forward-thinking club
  • Get in early, shape how the roll-out works, and grow with the programme as it expands nationally

There’s no better time to get involved than at the start.

Why Trust Drums4Health

Drums4Health is more than a fitness class, it’s a movement for community, connection and change. What started as a single class in Devon has grown into a wider mission: using rhythm and movement to support people’s physical, mental and social wellbeing, wherever they are.

Led by an experienced educator. Founder Tamsin Ward is a former music teacher and headteacher, a qualified Personal Trainer, and holds a Master’s in Education. She founded Drums4Health to bring the combined power of movement and rhythm to people’s physical and brain health.

Award-winning. Tamsin is a recipient of the 2026 Brainz CREA Global Award, recognising visionary entrepreneurs combining innovation, leadership and social impact.

Backed by research. Drums4Health’s approach draws on published research linking group drumming to reduced stress, improved mood, and support for brain plasticity, including studies from Frontiers in Psychology and neuroscience research from the University of Oxford. Drums4Health is also at the forefront of new research: the University of Exeter is following our work around preventive activity, with a further collaboration currently being explored with another institute to help build the evidence base.

Supporting people living with dementia. Drums4Health’s work extends into dementia care, where structured drumming has been shown to support engagement, social interaction and moments of joy that can be harder to reach through more traditional activities.

More than a business, a Community Interest Company too. Alongside its commercial classes, Drums4Health runs Move.Drum.Connect, a not-for-profit CIC delivering weekly drumming sessions that move around to different locations, connecting local communities and bringing people into rhythm-based movement who might not otherwise try it.

Proven with real participants. Members regularly describe Drums4Health as the most fun they’ve ever had exercising, with people trying it after Pilates, Zumba and traditional keep-fit and calling it their favourite by far.
